KELLI SCHAEFER’S ‘No Identity’ travels at light speed through the American landscape so many left and forgot to examine. Driven to explore the darkest corners of her own origin, and also to step outside of herself, ‘No Identity’ came into being after two years of work. It is a genesis story marked with resolve and technical prowess – muscular guitar, rumbling bass, and vocals that bend over themselves and spring back to shape. Coming out on AMIGO/AMIGA RECORDINGS, which began in 2009 with a community vision among a collection of Portland artists – release each other’s records on their own terms to shape a life that could be sustained by art. KELLI has only a few shows coming soon in the PNW, so get out while you can!
INTERNATIONAL ANTHEM grew out of the Chicago jazz and improvised music scene. Many of their releases were produced via artist residencies, recorded live then post-produced for presentation. This record, ‘Fly or Die’ by JAIMIE BRANCH and her quartet with TOMEKA REID, CHAD TAYLOR, and JASON AJEMIAN, was produced via a one week artist residency. Since they don’t live near each other, you’ll have to wait until May when they go on a mini tour, or grab one of these now!
RIPPLE MUSIC is back with their highly anticipated fifth chapter in their ‘Second Coming of Heavy’ series! Highlighting some of the best of the heavy underground, you better have acted fast to get one of those ‘Oxblood’ and ‘Aqua’ splattered AsideBside versions!

VINYL FOR A CAUSE is a record label based around the idea that music can be a driver for charitable good. Working with bands who cover and record each other’s music exclusively on sides A and B of a 7”, limited edition vinyl record. Together, a charity is selected whose views resonate most with each set of bands and donate a percentage of the proceeds to the selected organization. For this release, they have partnered with VH1 Save The Music Foundation and 50% of all proceeds will go to helping support their fantastic cause – featuring JESSE W. JOHNSON, Chicago troubadour and former member of Jet W. Lee, and indie rock duo COED PAGEANT, now based in Flagstaff, Arizona.
RICHARD EDWARDS, frontman and founder if the indie darlings Margo and the Nuclear So & Sos is releasing his first self titled debut album on JOYFUL NOISE RECORDINGS at the end off March. This album is the culmination of several physical and emotional triumphs, full of heartache, both the personal and general kind. Check out the record release show in NYC on April 1st if you can!
The bond between music and pro wrestling goes back many years starting with the Rock N Wrestling movement in the 80’s. In a new project in the tradition of 2000’s album “WWF Aggression,” producer Lynx Kinetic integrates iconic WWE entrance themes with hip hop, trap, and EDM elements, creating an expanded sonic pallet for rapper MEGA RAN to do what he does best. Legends such as Macho Man Randy Savage and Jake the Snake Roberts, as well as current top talent including Brock Lesnar and Bray Wyatt get the remix treatment and a lyrical homage, entitled “Mat Mania.” Limited to 250 ‘Gold’ discs, better hurry before you end up on eBay, again…
Keep on rockin in the free world!
