The Ratchets – “Gotta Be Cool” Hologram 7″
Get ready for a truly amazing RECORD OF THE WEEK Blog!!!
We had a hard time keeping quiet about this but we’re finally able to talk about it – we’ve made HOLOGRAM VINYL! We’ve taken the modern day technology and capabilities of holograms (like the kind you see on MONEY!) to create a BRAND NEW 21st century masterpiece! Only available on 7″ for now, the hologram side of these impressive records is playable. The grooves occupy the same space as the holographic image, but the effect on the audio quality is hardly noticeable.
Although not cheap to make, the product truly speaks for itself and leaves everyone marveling over this incredible piece of work. It was only appropriate that Pirates Press Records taps NJ’s THE RATCHETS to create the “Gotta Be Cool” hologram 7”! Available on Black Friday (Nov. 23rd), you “gotta be cool” and get your hands on one of these babies! If you’d like more information on manufacturing a hologram vinyl, please GET IN TOUCH with us today!

KING BUFFALO is a psychedelic trio in the classic format of bass, drums, and guitar, whose expansive and thunderous music is anything but easily definable. Nearly exactly three years after their formation, KING BUFFALO shows the world its first long-player creation – a powerful concoction of heavy psych, blues, and stoner rock in stunning cohesion. “Orion” flows surprisingly, giving the relative youth of the band, but KING BUFFALO seems to be a rare breed capable of fusing loose-knit and spacious pieces into a tightly-focused package. Check them out on tour right now all over the East Coast!

“Blue Music” is the debut album from Chicago indie rockers SUNSHINE BOYS, a band featuring members of Blake Babies and Poi Dog Pondering. Pressed on heavyweight ‘Aqua Blue’ vinyl, “Blue Music” is chock full of highly melodic, unapologetically heartfelt and instrumentally supercharged songs. Songs of empathy and discontent, songs of wonder and rage, songs of yearning and defiance.
Featuring Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitchin from Australian heroes The Drones, TROPICAL FUCK STORM is an end-of-days consciousness-stream across nine seething tracks. The debut dive-bombs into the realms of mortality and immortality, moralizing and amorality; the passing of time, and how little we have left. These are lurid songs, urgently told through Gareth Liddiard’s barbed and byzantine lyricism, abrasive guitar slashes, drum adrenalin, raunchy bass and electronic undercurrents. They’re raging, rapscallion, and funny, lyrically delving into everything from internet shaming to the kuru “laughing death” disease of the PNG highlands to Russian chess great Gary Kasparov’s portentous loss to an IBM computer.
