The Accüsed AD – “The Ghoul in the Mirror”
Another banging’ RECORD OF THE WEEK Blog coming at you!!!
With the knife-wielding, toothy-grinned Martha Splatterhead at their side, Seattle’s own THE ACCÜSED carved their way into the underground music scene by becoming one of the cornerstones of crossover music that melted faces in the 80s across the globe. After its demise in the early 2000s, the band was reborn in 2004 as TOE TAG and later MARTHA’S REVENGE–a grittier, back-to-roots incarnation of the Splatterrock sound comprised of three-fourths THE ACCÜSED. After recruitment of Poison Idea’s drummer, Mickey Widmere––the blender baby known as MARTHA’S REVENGE now proudly sports the moniker THE ACCÜSED AD. The first pressing of their new LP ‘The Ghoul in the Mirror’ sold out before official retail street date, and the second pressing is almost gone, so grab it now while you have a chance from BLACKHOUSE! Check out the ACCÜSED AD currently on tour with upcoming dates later this Summer as well as Fall 2019.

Rightfully hailed as “the noisiest pop music on the planet” by Pitchfork, Austin, TX’s cult noise rock trio CHERUBS have been purveyors of sonic bedlam since their inception in 1991. After an unforeseen return to the scene from a two-decade hiatus in 2014, the CHERUBS have now joined forces with the equally revered RELAPSE RECORDS for the release of their fifth long-player ‘Immaculada High’. Eleven songs of signature CHERUBS clamor with an added twist of Texas-sized, psychedelic racket. On Immaculada High, CHERUBS loudly proclaim their title as bonafide noise rock legends who continue to forge transgressive yet remarkably accessible punk for a jaded world.
Stockholm’s hardcore crust-punk veterans VICTIMS make their RELAPSE RECORDS debut with their highly anticipated new album, ‘The Horse and Sparrow Theory’. Clocking in at 28 minutes of relentless insurrection. VICTIMS’ uncompromising take on d-beat and hardcore is a definitive statement of intent, as the band set to deconstruct the current socio-political climate, bleak outlook of mass class division, industrialization, and the self-absorbed pursuit of greed and corruption.
MUSCLE BEACH formed in Denver in May of 2013 having performed in a half dozen festivals and tours. “Charms” is a departure from the band’s traditional subject matter and takes a darker, more sadistic turn. The album tackles subjects such as mental health, gun control, internal evil, and human impact on the Earth, amongst other things like cults, the church, and bad luck. Musically, the album is faster and meaner with tracks clocking in around a minute and a half, yet it maintains the band’s signature groovy style urging the listener to get up and move while banging their head. MUSCLE BEACH has a few select shows coming up or head on over to SAILER RECORDS to find out more!
Imagine being forced from your home. Imagine being sent to a prison camp with no trial, and no promise of release. Imagine all this happened simply because of the language you speak, the shade of your skin, or the roots of your family tree. For over 120,000 Japanese-Americans this was a reality during World War II. It’s a reality that KISHI BASHI seeks to reckon with on his latest release ‘Omoiyari’. KISHI BASHI’S fourth album and his most important yet is out now on JOYFUL NOISE RECORDINGS! Many of the songs were initially inspired by history and oppression, and he deftly weaves tales of love, loss, and wanting to connect listeners to the past. Channeling the hard-learned lessons of history, ‘Omoiyari’ is an uncompromising musical statement on the turbulent sociopolitical atmosphere of present-day America.
Hailing from all over parts of Oregon, ABOLITIONIST’S 5th full length album is out now on 1859 RECORDS! With only a few copies remaining on the web, you better hurry or go catch them on one of the select mostly east coat shows they have coming up. Don’t miss out!
See y’all next week!
