The final words sung on the sixth album by WHY? are an apt place to begin: “Hold on, what’s going on?” Because while there’s much familiar about the oddly named ‘Moh Lhean’—mastermind Yoni Wolf’s sour-sweet croon, his deadpan poet’s drawl and ear for stunningly fluid psych-pop-folk-whatever arrangement. After years of eying his world, in part, with a cynical squint, Wolf here learns a new mode. While ‘Moh Lhean’ never stoops to outright optimism, it chronicles our hero finding peace in the unknowing, trading the wry smirk for a holy shrug, and looking past corporeal pain for something more cosmic and, rest assured, equally weird. Hit up JOYFUL NOISE RECORDINGS to grab a copy or wait until March when WHY? goes out on a huge US tour!

IN THE COMPANY OF SERPENTS traffic in sonic catharsis. Their music inhabits the strange fringes between sludge metal and sprawling spaghetti western scores, constantly striving for visceral power and raw intensity, contrasted with eerie, spare instrumental passages. ‘Ain-Soph Aur’ is their 5th release, this LP coming in a die cut jacket and either a classic ‘Black’ disc or the super eerie ‘Blood Red’ and ‘Piss Yellow’ AsideBside version. Make your way to Denver at the end of March for the record release show!

Begun by J. Read 15 years ago as a continuation of his work in Conqueror, REVENGE has since delivered some of the most severe and violent music the metal underground has ever produced. First released by Season of Mist in November 2015, NUCLEAR WAR NOW! has licensed an additional vinyl release of “Behold.Total.Rejection” in order to further propagate REVENGE’S unmatched audial violence. Keeping with the tradition that NWN! first established with its 2008 die-hard vinyl edition of the band’s third album, “Infiltration.Downfall.Death,” this definitive DLP edition of “Behold.Total.Rejection” is sublimely packaged in a case-wrapped gatefold jacket with black foil stamp on black cloth background and a 24-page booklet attached to the inside panel!

Their sound reveals that connection, which is often described as space kraut rock meets heavy doom. The group’s music allows you to float high above the atmosphere as well as sink to the lowest depth of the ground. Find out more over at GURUGURU BRAIN!
