Ouroboros Boys was formed in 2012 by Sean Dail (Aleuchatistas) and Nicholas Marshall. The idea was to evoke a thick mood sans vocals and lyrics. Their inspiration came from the swirling space-noise of Hawkwind, the jagged angles formed in the guitar lines of the Wipers and Rudimentary Peni, the otherness of Martin Denny, the sweetness of Santo and Johnny Farina and of course the explosive twang of Man or Astroman. Exotica for our modern living and dying world. “Mall of Horrors” is their second full-lenth album, only available on vinyl through the band and regional record stores currently. In typical Ouroboros Boys fashion, “Mall of Horrors” delivers a distinct mix of neo-instrumental surf, psychedelic space-rock and cinematic scoring. MoH is however heavier and more layered than previous releases- leaning more heavily on synthesizers, sampling, percussion and musical arrangements more closely associated with prog or even post-rock. It’s dark and weird and full of depth. Stay tuned as they are working up some shows as we speak!
